Default Unbeatable tatic?

I dunno how it was done but I was in the hall of heros a little while ago and a team held the middle by simply standing there. Both teams attacked 1 team had about 16 bone things and not a single player dropped at all. Using multiple AOEs the middle wouldn't even kill a lvl 6 spirit ( with more direct dmg spell/meleeing it we could though ). Even with everyone on our team targeting a mesmer we couldn't kill it.

Anyone got any ideas how it was done?

Protection spells, earth wards, heal area..... plenty of ways it could have been done.

To counter, what you have to do is, well, counter. Simply piling on more damage will get you nowhere, what you need to do is stop whatever they're using to achieve the effect.

Hard to say what to do on the limited information you've given, but I would have tried calling a target, dropping maelstrom and chaos storm on them before a rend enchantments and then hitting him everything you have. Note all three of those spells come from less popular classes or attributes.

Generally speaking, anybody running that heavy a defence is using enchantments, so you will need effective enchantment removal within your team. Without it, you don't stand a chance.

I played briefly with a group that did this. Basically lots of life bonds in combination with healing seed. It stands up to a lot of AoE, but it only takes one interrupt to healing seed to bring down the whole group fast. Or strip enchantments and focus someone. I wouldn't use AoE though if you're going the enchantment stripping route, as you'll still trigger the seed by hitting other people that you've not stripped enchantments from (unless you're very sure who the seed target is).

Against other warriors, I set all my stances that provide high chance to block with Gladiator's Defense. When one stance is about to wear off, activate another. Between all the cool down periods, there is maybe a few seconds where I am completely vulnerable. Gladiator's defense is my friend .

I also like to use life siphon, faithheartness, sever artery, and deep wound. Life degeneration hurts a lot faster than sword will anyday. It's worked quite well for my warrior/necro for quite some time now.

Necro skill: Well of the Profane. If you can't manage to get corpses from them then have another necro run in and sacrifice himself to death.

I'm interested in how they kept their life up when life bond is only triggered by melee and arrow damage? Perhaps one person was running protective bond on everyone with the monks spamming heal area, but that would be some insane energy consumption. Honestly, it was either them pulling some insane trick, or you guys simply not doing enough damage.

Life Bond, Healing Seed, Heal Area, Life Attunement, combined with energy management techniques like Blessed Signet, Divine Spirit, and Offering of Blood, will give you insane defense. Like Zorque said, one Well of the Profane will completely nullify almost that entire strategy.
